Periodic inspections are important06/20/2024The following periodic inspections are recommended for the Mitsubishi AC drives, but also act as a good guideline for any and all drives to catch small problems before they become big problems. Observe the surrounding environment, ambient temperatures, humidity, dirt, oil mist, etc. Is there any unusual vibration or noise? Ensure that the main circuit control voltages are normal. Anything that can be done to improve the environment will be helpful. Do you see any loose screws or bolts? Check for signs of overheat on the parts or any stains or discolorations. (Well... maybe not that drastic) Cables and conductors should be free of any kinds of discoloration or distortion. Cable sheaths should be free of cracks or any other breakage. Observe transformers for unusual odor or high pitched whining sound. Is the terminal block damaged in any way? Check the bus large bus capacitors for any sign of liquid leakage, as well as the safety valve projection and look for any bulges on the sides or top of the capacitors. Listen and watch for any chatter from relays and contactors. This may be a sign of a bad relay or an unsteady control voltage. Resistors should be intact without any cracks, discoloration, or burned spots. Check the control circuit and protective circuit by doing an operation check. Be sure that the output voltages across the inverter phases are balanced. Make sure there is no fault found in the protective and display circuits in a sequence protective operation test. Inspect for odors, discoloration, or rust development. Observe the overall cooling system and its individual components. In the cooling fan, heatsink, and air filter, inspect for loose screws or bolts, watch and listen for vibration or noise, and clean out any clogs or debris that has accumulated. This will allow for greater air flow keeping the operating temperature down. Finally, check the load motor for proper operation and be sure there is not an increase in vibration or the usual operational noise. If a periodic inspection leads to any kind of minor trouble, that leads to taking corrective action, you can call on the drive experts at PES at 800-732-4695 to fully test the drive to be sure it will still operate at its peak performance.
